The Fire of the gates of hell.
If there is a hell on Earth this was the place. After Saddam Husein blew the oil wells in Kuwait, the fire storm engulfed the desert for almost a year. The common efforts of over 700 firefighters and many more outside the "pit" were worth saving millions of gallons of raw petrol, which otherwise would have burned for decades.
For just under an hour, the movie tries to capture the great struggle of the teams which apply the greatest human ingenuity into diminishing the blazing inferno of the oil. The small part of their work, captured in this movie, is definitely not enough to please the viewers.

My friend and I were recently talking about how technology has become so integrated in our day to day lives. Reading this post makes me think back to that discussion we had, and just how inseparable from electronics we have all become.
I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Societal concerns aside... I just hope that as the price of memory decreases, the possibility of copying our memories onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's a fantasy that I dream about all the time.
